Arturia introduced Pigments Play on 29 September 2026 as a free, streamlined software instrument for Windows and macOS.
A focused starting point
The announcement describes 100 presets, four macro controls per preset and an interface that responds to playing and edits. The instrument can run standalone or inside a DAW, with sounds spanning basses, pads, keys, leads and sequences.
Start with the musical part
A smaller control set can be a useful way to shape a sound without interrupting a writing session. Try the supplied sounds against your own arrangement, and check the current operating-system and plugin requirements before installing. The free instrument and any additional sound-bank purchases should be considered separately.
