It’s not often I try out a plug that REALLY makes me go ‘wow!’ but I have to say the latest offering from iZotope done just that.
BreakTweaker is the brand new plugin from iZotope. Originally the brain child of Musician/Composer & technologist Mr.BT, this plugin has had years of painstaking development and experience poured into it. I have been have a fan of BT for years, right back to the early days of the legendary ‘IMA’ album. I have always admired BT’s original take on all things musical, and his works that followed throughout the years just seems to get better and better.
BT originally set to work on this Plugin along with Stutter Edit a number of years back and the plan was to release them both for Mac only through a company he set up called Sonik Architects. It seems that later plans changed and BT joined forces with audio software giant iZotope.
MicroEdit Anything
Traditional sequencing is so 1984. With BreakTweaker, you can slice and manipulate audio at a resolution that would blow MIDI’s mind (and your DAW’s). Thanks to the MicroEdit Engine within BreakTweaker, each step can be repeated or chopped at an infinitesimally small rate, allowing you to create buzzing musical harmony, texturize a step with extra rhythms, or even use rhythm as a synthesis tool, locking drum hits to individual pitches.
